Desktop Client Release Notes
The Yammer desktop client, built with Adobe AIR, allows you to stay in touch with your network without opening a browser. If you have problems with the application, please visit our forum or look through our help site.
v0.7.52 current version
- We have ended the beta program. If you currently have a beta version of the application, you will need to install the newest production version of the application from the Applications page on Yammer.com. This will overwrite the current beta version of the application with the production version.
v0.7.51
- Better error handling for authorization failed responses from server. This error is a fix for the application requesting users to reauthorize the desktop client when misreading the returned error message from the server.
v0.7.50
- Added ability to send and recieve private messages
- Added ability to display RSS Feeds
- Display proper error message when replying to a group from the "All" tab.
- Fixed bug where a link typed as "www.mylink.com" would not open properly in web browser when clicked.
- Fixed issue that application size and location were not be remembered when application uses non-transparent (chromed) window style.
v0.7.45h
- Typeahead (autosuggest) for usernames, tags, and groups. Start typing #, @, or "to:" in the text input fields.
- View member, tag, and group pages. When you click on a user name, you'll go to a new feed with that user's contact information and a list of the messages s/he has written. The members directory is now included in the app, as are the groups and tags directories.
- Support for attachments. Drag files into the new message or reply fields to attach them. (You can also click the paperclip icon in the right corner of each field). To view attachments within a message, click to download them, or right-click on an attachment to have the option of opening or saving the file.
- Group invitations and administrative notifications.
- Join groups and follow tags through the desktop app.
- Invite users and complete your org chart from the desktop app.
- Optional sound notification for new messages.
- Upgraded to AIR v1.5 for improved reliability and memory usage.
- If your message fails to send, for whatever reason, you'll be returned to the message form with the body of your message intact
- Improved handling of dropped internet connections. The app should detect if your connect has dropped out and will stop looking for messages until the connection is restored. The "refresh" icon will turn into a warning icon when there's no internet connection; clicking the icon will force the app to test the network again.
- Improved support of minimizing, maximizing, and restoring window. Double-clicking on header will maximize/restore window size.
- Improved support when changing monitor sizes or changing monitor connections (i.e. a laptop with an external monitor). If the change makes your app go offscreen, restore it by clicking your dock/start bar icon.
- Added optional non-transparent (chromed) window. Chromed windows show your operating system's wrapper around the window (i.e. title, minimize, maximize, and close buttons) and may perform slightly better in certain scenarios.
- Display a confirmation prompt when deleting messages.
- Right-click on web links to open in browser or copy link location.
- Improvements to reliably display "more available" link at the bottom of a message list. (Deleted messages formerly could cause incorrect "all messages displayed" notifications)
- Fixed bug where periodic upgrade checks (every six hours) triggered a message list reload, errantly notifying the user of messages that were not new.
v0.7.40c
- Public and private groups. Keep your network noise level down with groups, accessible through the new "more" menu to the right of your tabs.
- Follow users. When you mouse over a user's avatar, you'll see four new buttons: view thread, reply, follow user, and view user profile.
- More secure login system. We've switched to a token-based system where you'll no longer need to enter your username and password into the desktop application. The first time you run the desktop app, you'll be prompted to enable the application through the Yammer website.
- Reorder and remove tabs. Click and drag any tab to change its position; click the "x" on a tab to remove it from your tab set. Removing a tab does not delete it, and you can restore it to your set at any time via the "more" menu.
- Switch between multiple accounts. If you're a member of multiple networks, you can now easily switch between them via the preferences panel (wrench icon in upper right)
- Reduced minimum application width to 250 pixels.
- Absolute timestamps. Carry over relative (2 hours ago) vs. absolute (6:30PM - Oct 5) timestamps preference from the web interface.
- Improved handling links to users and tags, and special characters within messages.
- Performance and memory improvements (including reduced CPU usage)
- 0.7.40b Update: fix for international characters.
- 0.7.40c Update: fix for blank avatars.
